About 2 & 4 Wheels - Supporting Regulated Motorsport In Northern Ireland
2 & 4 Wheels is an umbrella organisation which represents the four governing bodies of regulated motor sport in Northern Ireland on issues which are common to all disciplines.

These include increasing the level of government funding for motor sport, the improvement or creation of facilities, dealing with legislative issues which affect any aspect of motor sport and the provision of training for clubs in order to increase their professionalism. These four governing bodies are represented on the board of 2 & 4 Wheels by 2 directors and 2 alternates per governing body. In addition, the Board includes an independent Chairman and independent Company Secretary. In total there are 10 directors and 8 alternates on the Board.

Motorsports in Northern Ireland has been gaining popularity throughout the last century. Spurred on by the excitement and challenges of motorsport, Northern Ireland has produced more than its fair share of international compeitors, however the excitement can also bring with it danger, and it is the aim of 2&4 wheels that motorsport in N.Ireland develops as an exciting, sustainable, and safety conscious sport. It is accessable to all to enjoy as competitors, officials or spectators, according to level of interest and ability.


image The Association of Northern Ireland Car Clubs - (ANICC) was formed in 1963. It's role is to co-ordinate and represent the interest of motorsport clubs in Northern Ireland. The ANICC harmonises and assembles the dates of all motorsport events as well as promoting the Northern Ireland Championships. It liases with its own and other governing bodies of sports, the Sports Council Northern Ireland, the Lottery Fund, and other sources of grant aid. In effect, the ANICC is there to provide assistance and guidance with all it's clubs and competitors in promoting their sport. The ANICC is affiliated to the national governing ody the 'Motor Sport Association' (MSA) and has 34 clubs with memberships of approx 3300.

image The Motor Cycle Union of Ireland (Ulster Centre) Limited - (MCUI-UC) commonly referred to as the 'Ulster Centre', was formed in 1903 to act as the governing body for all motorcycle sport in the province of Ulster (nine counties). The Ulster Centre has approx 500 license holders who take part in Road Race and Short Circuits and approx 100 license holders who participate in trial events.

image The North Of Ireland Karting Association - (NIKA) is the governing body for all the sport on karting in Northern Ireland. It's four member clubs are the 500 MRCI, Bishopscourt KC, Coleraine & District MC and the Ulster KC. NIKA's primary role since the 1960's has been to administrate the N.I. Kart Championship, co-ordinate race dates and maintain consistent rules at all clubs, under the approval of the MSA. In recent years one of NIKA's most important roles is to liase with external bodies, such as Sports Northern Ireland and 2&4 Wheels.

imageThe Motorcycle Racing Association - (MRA) was formed in 1999 to promote off Road Motorcycle racing in the nine counties of Ulster. The MRA has 18 constituent Clubs promoting up to 150 events a year covering adult and youth motocross, adult and youth quadcross, Supermoto racing and classic and twin shock scrambles.
